Next stop Penang?

The next stop off
The next place I have found that could be a possible stopper is Penang.
A little background about the place:
Penang caters to a wide variety of travelers. Steeped in history from our colonial times, rich in culture from a multi-racial background, truly a food paradise and shopping haven set in a tropical island setting. Beach resort area, Great breakfasts, Para-sailing and night street market, Very conservative, soft-core Asia, Wonderful for families.
It is an island, so has beaches however keeps its Malaysian Heritage.

Getting to penang:
The book says we have to get to butterworth first, and then catch a ferry jetty (1.20 Rm/ £0.21).
Getting to butterworth leaves us with many options. The book wasn’t great at explaining how to do this and I’m sure there is lots of ways to get there however using the rail service we originally found would get us there.

There is a train linking Kuala Lumpur with Butterworth, and then we would get a ferry across to Penang.
If we get to kuala Lumpur on the 26th, we could leave for either the 14:23 or 20:00 train on Monday 29th. Basically, if we were to get the 20:00 train we could get to butterworth for 04:39 and ferries start to penang at 05:30. Again, saving a room and a day travelling?
By the way, here is the fantastic ferry…

Had a look for some hotels. This seems to be fairly good. http://www.asiatravel.com/malaysia/tanjung_bungah/index.html
Works out at just over £10 each per night inc breakfast. It is right on the beach too!

Gets better reviews and has its own private beach. But is abit further away from the town centre.
