Where next?

Making our move
From the very start we have been content on the seat61 Singapore to Bangkok train, this service is using a Malaysian rail company called “KTMB”.
I viewed the timetable from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur and it runs 3 times a day.
Which would mean, if we check out of the hotel before 12:00, we can get the 14:00 train.
It takes 7 hours, which is a waste of a day, and the book and reviews recommend night travel as it ‘saves rooming costs’ and also gives more daytime. I have found that this seems to be the cheapest option.

The travelling conditions

As the train journey is overnight, a sleeper is in order! Due to three of us going, the 1st class only caters for 2. So it will be slumming it up in the 2nd class carriage.
£8 for a 7 hour journey, seen as we will be travelling at night, it works out as £8 for the night. Bargain :).

Sleep in our clothes, luckily we have sleeping liners! :D

There is a place between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore that called Melaka. It is a very historical city and is mainly based around Museums, if you wanted to go there, we would have to use other train services or a bus service to get there instead of the KTMB train above.

Arriving in Kuala Lumpur
Apparantly taxis in KL have meters but drivers refuse to use them, so we have to bargain. We must ask at our hotel about approximate fares before heading to a taxi stand, because the price rockets up when a tourist approaches. Also, some drivers use the meters when the traffic is heavy.
Taxi trips around town are about RM5 to RM10 which converts to £0.90 to £1.80.
(Split between = Bargain!).
Sleeping in Kuala Lumpur
Ben found a great 4star hotel which worked out at £13.11 each per night including Breakfast!
The hotel is http://www.citrushotelkl.com
